Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 80 lbs
An almost perfect circle appeared on the dog, seemed to be sap or puss but was odorless and had no signs of pain when cleaned. dog did scratch and cut it open so it must have annoyed him. used Elizabeth collar and cleaned with peroxide. after a week, seemed healed, cleaned and the fur all came off easily. doesn't seem infected, was hardly raw. now appears to be stabbed over. what could have been the cause? what are our next steps? dog very much dislikes vets office.

It sounds like it was a hot spot that is now trying to heal with the scab. You can try applying topical "hot spot" spray/cream from your local pet store on the wound area twice a day to see if this can get it to heal completely. You should also cleanse the area with and antiseptic (iodine diluted 50:50 with warm water) or a mild soap (ie. Dove) and warm water. Hot spots are usually caused by excessive licking of the skin due to a topical parasite (fleas) or a scratch on the skin. Make sure that Lugs is up to date on flea/tick preventatives (i.e. Bravecto, Nexgard, Trifexis, Advantage Multi).
