Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 4 months old | 10 lbs
My cat has experienced urinary crystals in the past. The symptoms have not come back since I started feeding him only wet food for the last couple years. I'm wondering now if I can begin feeding him dry food along with wet food throughout the day to make his feeding regiment more cost effective.

It is important that Ike has an increased amount of water in his diet to prevent the reformation of crystals in his urine. I can understand wanting to try to make his feeding regiment more cost effective, but if he doesn't get enough moisture in his diet, then he could develop crystals again. If you want to start adding some dry food to his diet, I would soak it the dry food in water to get more moisture into his diet. You can also try mixing a little bit of dry food in with the wet food.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Spooky. I do not recommend mixing over-the-counter food with his prescription urinary diet as this will negate its effects. To increase the moisture content of his diet, you can add water to his dry kibble. Some cats will eat it that way if they will not eat the canned food. The other option would be to try to another brand of prescription wet food. I hope this information helps!
