My cat had kittens. Is she still contracting because of more? Normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 7 months old

How long between births? My cat has given birth to three kittens but it seems like she’s contracting once again, it has only been 2 hours since the last kitten?

Contractions can continue during the 24 hours after birth, although much less frequently, the contractions help getting rid of any remaining placenta from the uterus. i believe this is probably what's happening to Belle although i can't completely rule out another kitten (much less likely).

If there is no progression at this point then she needs to see a vet. They can X-ray and see how many are left Your vet can give medication to stimulate contractions if needed or do a c section if that is indicated at this point
