My dog has dry, spreading, boil-like bumps. Should I go to vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 22 days old | 80 lbs

He has a big dry bumpy patch on top of his back foot and now the bumps are spreading up his leg and almost look boil like. Any home remedies or should I take him to get checked out?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely a focal site of infection. I recommend that you have Ace evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. How this is treated will depend on what it exactly is and what type of infection it is. If confirmed, they may prescribe topical or oral antibiotics. Good luck!
