Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If a 6+ month kitten has not had any vaccines, it will need a rabies shot and 1-2 distemper combination shots depending upon the vaccine used and the veterinarian giving the vaccine. Also, the vet will discuss other vaccines to see if they are appropriate. Good luck.

So for a kitten this age, I would first recommend a feline leukemia/fiv test prior to bringing him home with your own kitties. This is a blood test that the vet's office can do to test for these diseases that are contagious to other cats. The kitten will then need a rabies vaccine, a feline distemper vaccine, and a feline leukemia vaccine if he will ever be going outdoors or around other cats that go outdoors. The feline distemper and feline leukemia vaccine will need to be boostered 3 to 4 weeks after the initial vaccination. The vaccines will then be good for one year. The price will vary by the vet office but you can always call them and ask for pricing information.
