Should I worry about my puppy's fever and urinating after shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 29 days old | 6 lbs

My 10 wk old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix female got her first shots today. Has been running a fever and urinating all over herself during sleep. Gave a bath and also gave 1/2 of an 81mg aspirin per vet instructions earlier in day (6# 6oz pup). Should I be concerned or is this normal? No vomiting, diarrhea, respiratory distress, or facial swelling.

It is not normal as most dogs do not have vaccine reactions. Is this a way that vaccine reactions could manifest? Not usually but it can be. You are doing everything right by keeping in contact with the vet and getting treatment recommendations. Just keep her calm and quiet tonight and see how she is tomorrow. If not better, I would take her back to the vet for an exam. I strongly suggest you NOT give any more aspirin. If that one dose is not helping more will not be better. Hope this helps.
