How do I handle my Shiba Inu puppies at a party with many guests?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 15 lbs

7 month old and 13 month old Shiba Inu pups. We have a party of about 40 people in a few weeks and they all want to meet the dogs. What is the best way to handle with the crowds? They have crates in the main part of the house where guests will be. We have a pen that we can move to a bedroom, or we can have them at the party and leashed. They would also attempt to get out the door and go "exploring" if the opportunity arose.

I suggest you put them in the pen in the bedroom and only have a couple people at a time visit with them. That is, unless you have taken them out to places with large crowds of people already. Crowds can be overwhelming if they are not used to it. If they are used to crowds then I would have them out leashed so you can control the situation. Hope this helps. Good question!
