Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 29 days old | 40 lbs
My dog barks by going near the door when he needs to go out. When he barks I open the door so that he can pee outside. At times when he barks and he just wouldn't pee. Its getting annoying. (I take him for walk both morning and evening.) The thing is when i leave for school my mom gets annoyed when he barks and doesn't pee. I reward him when he pees and comes back immediately. What am I doing wrong? How should I correct his behavior?

Please do not correct Damon's behavior as he is doing exactly what you taught him to do. He does not associate barking to go outdoors just to pee, he associates barking with a chance to just be outdoors. I am sorry if this is annoying, but you & your mom should be very glad that he announces his intentions. He is still quite young, & his need to go out should go down as he gets older. Have patience & continue to reward him for good behavior. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
