How can I check my first dog's health at home for peace of mind?

I own my first pup and it feels like i'm too much worried about him all the time as he's my baby . My question is how to check at home if my dog is healthy . I know vets have their apparatus etc but i sometimes feels he's slow or sleeping alot or eating less or moaning without any reason which makes me feel stressed out . Can you provide me basic guidlines on how to check dogs health etc for peace of mind . Can't take it to vets all the time . Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 5 months and 16 days old | 26 lbs
