Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Folic acid supplementation in pregnant dogs is ok to do to help prevent cleft palates in small breeds. Dosage recommendations vary and there is little evidence to support any specific dosage recommendation. Suggested oral dosages for small animals generally range from 400 micrograms – 1 mg per dog once daily although doses of 2 mg & 5 mg per dog orally once daily have been noted. Good luck
