My intact male dog is gaining weight and eating more. What's wrong?

My shepherd has enlarged prostate and I need to get him fixed. In the mean time he looks like he's gaining weight and eating a lot more. He is 2. Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 109 lbs
