Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 12 years and 9 months old | 17 lbs
If a 17 lb spayed female cockapoo mix is on .2 Soloxine for over 18 months, shouldn't the hair on her tail grow back? Could she be on either too high a dose or too low a dose. The vet (very old gentlemen probably close to retirement) has seen her and run blood tests on her several times and continues her on this level. She is also on Hills Diet Kidney Care and supplements from Nzymes.com.

They usually start to look and act more normal again after about six months when hypothyroidism is successfully treated. Finding the appropriate dose is sometimes tricky, because it is individual to the patient and depends on test results and physical exam findings. Without knowing all of Tiffanie's case details, it's difficult for me to give you a good answer for the lack of hair regrowth, but it's possible that it may not regrow with treatment. I detect that you are suspicious that Tiffanie's vet may not be providing the appropriate treatment. In these cases, I recommend you seek a second vet opinion. Below is a link to an article that may help you with this decision. https://www.petcoach.co/article/when-is-it-time-to-seek-a-second-veterinary-opinion/ I hope that helps and Tiffanie gets better soon.
