Dog vomited, had diarrhea, then bloody urine. Is vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 15 lbs

My 6yo dog vomited and had diarrhea on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday night he urinated blood. Today his urine is normal and he seems like he's feeling better (playing and barking again). Should we be concerned

Boy, I’m certainly glad that he is feeling better. Those symptoms make me suspicious that he may have been passing a kidney or bladder stone. Male dogs can become obstructed when passing stones because they can get lodged in the penis. I think a visit and consultation with your veterinarian would be a good idea. I would recommend an x-ray to see if he has any other stones as there may be further treatment or diet changes that could help prevent them from occurring. Best of luck to you and Wi-Fi!
