Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 8 months and 16 days old | 10 lbs

Hi, My cat's voice suddenly changed . It sounds like he loosing his voice. Also his breathing is quite loud like his nose is blocked. He had the cat flu only a few months ago and the weird breathing never really went away since but 2 days ago it got worse again and this morning his voice is almost gone. He had a full health check 3 months ago and everything was negative. What this could be? Thank you

He could have an upper respiratory infection again. Since his breathing is loud, he should be examined by a vet to treat. He might need an antibiotic and/or other medications to help. You could also put him in a steamy bathroom and see if that helps loosen up any congestion.
