Hello, I noticed my cat had a big lump on his head yesterday night when he came in from outside. It’s right behind his ear and it’s very hard like a knot. He won’t use the litter box and has been laying down all day long and he keeps itching the lump and there is no cuts or scratches on the area

It's likely that this lump is an abscess from a fight he had outside with another cat, you will need to take him to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, if it is an abscess it will need to be lanced and clean under sedation, he will also have an antibiotic injection to treat the infection.
