Is flea and tick home spray safe for my 8-week-old kitten to use?

No, per the label instructions cats have to be at least 12 weeks of age. If you are having a flea issue I suggest you use a topical flea medication like Advantage II. This can be used on kittens 8 weeks and older. Do not use the lesser brands like Hartz or Sentry - there have been many reactions to those brands. Hope this helps.

    I generally don't recommend using these products on cats, because cats are very sensitive to essential oils, which are the primary ingredients of this product. Additionally, this product is not very effective, so it's really not worth applying to the kitten. There are some (more effective products) that are labeled for kittens at the pet store, or your vet. I recommend only using a product that is prescribed by your vet to ensure it's safe and effective. I hope that helps and all is well with Boots.

    Advantage is safe for kittens 8 weeks and older. Be sure that the product do you get is labeled for kittens eight weeks old as many topical spot on products can be toxic to cats. You can use a flea comb which is a very fine toothed comb to comb her fur and check for fleas or "flea dirt" the reddish brown feces from fleas. Hi, and thanks for your question. A spot on treatment such Advantage is a good flea treatment, and can be used in kittens as young as 1 month old. They are applied once a month every month. You can get it from your vet clinic. Supermarket flea treatments are not as strong as ones you get from your vet, and will not give the best results. What would you recommend for the kittens under 5 lbs. And mom which is 8 months old for fleas then cause that's what the vet sold me for the kittens and mom
In your previous post, you indicated that the kittens were 5 weeks old. If that is the case, there are no flea products labeled to use in kittens this young. Adams flea spray bottle is labeled for kittens 12 weeks of age and older. If your kittens are really just 5 weeks, they would only weigh about 1 pound. The safest thing to do in that case is to use a flea comb and manually pick fleas off. You can remove the mother cat from them and apply Revolution and wait about an hour to put her back with the kittens. Most topical monthly flea treatments are labeled for use in kittens that are 9-10 weeks old and over 2 pounds, but there is really nothing appropriate for 5 week old babies.

I've just bought 2 10 weeks old kittens and they are full of fleas what is the safest way to remove them.
There are some topical flea products, such as Frontline Plus, that are safe for kittens under 12 weeks. Give the kittens a bath using warm water and a mild flea shampoo safe for kittens. Keep them warm during and after the bath until they are fully dry! Buy a flea comb if you don't have one and comb the kitten every day or more often if you can and as needed. Kill any live fleas you find in a cup of rubbing alcohol or a little bit of the flea shampoo. Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum and throw out the bag or empty the vacuum immediately. Wash all washable blankets, sheets, sofa covers, rugs, cat beds, etc. In hot water and detergent. Apply FrontlinePlus for cats on the kitten by parting the hair on the back of the head until you can see skin and squeezing the contents of one tube onto that one spot. This is safe for kittens 8 weeks and older. For younger kittens, just bathe them with a mild flea shampoo.

I wanted to know if there was anything to prevent fleas on kittens. She's only 6 weeks old and she spends most of her time outside.
I would recommend that you get a flea spray (like Frontline Spray), spray it on a dry towel, and then rub the towel on Minnie. You can also bathe her and use a flea comb to remove fleas off the skin. When she turns 8 weeks old, there are several products that can be used at that time.

What flea treatment can I give to a 9 week old kitten?

Flea treatments are available at the age of 9 weeks, in fact you can use most flea treatment brand from this age, she is also at the age to start her vaccinations so i strongly recommend to take her to the vet.

Lucifer is old enough to have flea treatment put on him. I recommend getting a spot on treatment like Advantage or Revolution. You have to get the one for kittens or you could accidentally poison him if you get one for bigger cats. You can also give him Capstar, it's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes. You can give him the Capstar, then follow up with the spot on treatment (follow the directions on the package). You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash all his bedding and toys in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. A flea bomb would work well to kill all the fleas in the house.

Oh that's not good! If it's a topical medication, wash it off now and monitor your kitten for signs of toxicity. Signs include tremors, excessive drooling, ear twitching, vomiting, or diarrhea, take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

Great question! You can use Frontline Spray on the kittens. It's safe to use on kittens from two days of age. On Beauty, you can use Revolution or Advantage. Those are spot on treatments that have been tested and proven to be safe on nursing mothers. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex. I hope this helps!
