Can you see a kitten's blue eyes change to their permanent color?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 26 days old | 3.5 lbs

when a kittens eyes change from blue to their permanent color, is there usually a visual difference? like, can we as humans see them change? My kitten eyes were blue but one day it looked like it had blood in his one eye and it was cloudy, then the next day it was yellow/brown (his permanent color). He seemed fine I thought he may have just scratched it (this was weeks ago) so I'm just wondering. Thanks.

Their eye color, changes from blue to its permanent color about 6-7 weeks of age. You may be able to see that, yes. This article goes more in depth and should answer all of your questions. Hope this helps! http://www.catster.com/lifestyle/what-age-do-cats-eye-color-change

At 2 months of age, eye color changes are still possible in your kitten, so it wouldn't be a guarantee the eye color won't vary/change over the next few months. Usually eye color can change up to 6 months of age.
