My dog's chin wound is red, scabby, and wet. Is it infected?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old

Panda had surgery 7 days ago his chin wound is red round the edge and has a black scab running the length the stitches are holding OK on his chin the neuter wound is dry and normal pink colour should I take him to vet or just see if redness goes away the chin wound gets rubbed and wet when eating and drinking due to Elizabethan collar

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Panda. I would monitor this closely. Signs of infection include redness, swelling, pain, discharge, and loss of function so if you notice this getting worse or other signs develop, take him back to have him re-evaluated. You can use some topical Neosporin or similar antibiotic ointment on the incision. Just make sure if doesn't contain hydrocortisone or a steroid. Good luck
