My cat bites fur, sneezes, and wheezes. What should I do for him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 13 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

My siamese cat bites off his hair from his backside (lower body). I pick up chunks daily. He seems to do it 2x/day (morning and evening). Eats fine, happy cat otherwise. Indoor cat, 14 yrs old. Only myself in the home (my Dad used to live with me and the cat enjoyed his company), no other pets. He also sneezes frequently and when he gets up from resting, he wheezes. How can I help my cat?

Poor Sketch (I love his name!). Usually cats who bite hair off body are itchy. This can be caused by fleas, allergies, or even some skin mites. I would start by making sure he's on a good flea preventative (ask your vet what they recommend) and then taking him in for a check up if that doesn't fix the issue. Good luck!
