Cat's eye weeping clear liquid after new kitten. What should I do?

My cat(1year old) her left eye is weeping a clear water like liquid. We've just brought our new kitten home( 12 weeks old) what do I do?

It could be that Delah is suffering from an eye infection causing this weeping from her eye. I would take her into a vet today to have her eye examined, diagnosed, and treated. For now, keep her separate from the kitten in case the weeping eye is due to a respiratory infection which could be spread to the kitten. Have the kitten set up in her own room with her own water, food, and litter box. I hope this helps!

Clarise’s eye discharge may be due to a viral infection, a problem with the drainage of the lacrimal duct or allergies. Infections are the most common cause and I would recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian as medication may be indicated. The doctor may use a special dye to stain the corneas and look for any ulcers as some viruses will cause this. If the doctor is not suspicious of an infection, she will recommend other tests or treatments. I recommend to get an appoint quickly as things can get worse. In the mean time, you can give her 250mg of Lysine twice daily. This supplement will help viral infections. You can often find this in pet stores. I suspect that Nylah has an eye infection. You can take her into the vet for illnesses during this time, it's ok and necessary. Leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet now.

It sounds like Squeak could have an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. You need to take her into a vet immediately to have her eye examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as needed. I hope this helps!

Cats often are infected with herpesvirus as kittens, and it can come and go throughout their lives, but often it flares up during times of stress (such as adding a new kitten). They can also get secondary bacterial infections in the eyes and upper respiratory infections. If it's not improving on its own or he starts squinting or pawing at his eye he may need antibiotic drops from your vet.

Although a picture would help to determine the underlying cause more specifically, that is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to an allergy or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Kitten's eyes tear up, good appetite, drinking, pooping, social and active and she doesn't fuss with her face.
She likely is carrying a virus such as herpesvirus or calicivirus, which are quite common in kitties. Giving her an antiviral supplement (Lysine powder or gel) can help with this. Other possible causes are excessive tear production or conjunctivitis (which is still usually viral in nature). If her eye start to redden, if you notice her squinting or any yellow/green discharge, or continuous discharge that doesn't cease even for a little while, then a vet visit is needed to treat for a possible injury to the eyes or tear gland problem. However it is likely she is just carrying a virus and in some case cats do well with antiviral, while other require a short course of topical antibiotic ointment to get the eyes to resolve. I’ve had a kitten snuck into my house, and it took me an hour to catch him. His currently inside of a box with food and water, but his left eye is hurt. I’m unsure what to do at this point.
This is probably an upper respiratory infection. it's very common in young cats and is very contagious to other cats as well. It is treated with antibiotic eye drops/ointment and oral antibiotics for about 2 weeks. if left untreated many cats will end up blind or even die from the disease. I advise going to your vet asap to start the treatment right away.

No this is normal, and it could be due to an eye infection, injury to the eye, or allergies. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Hello, congratulations on your new kitten. It sounds like she may have an upper respiratory tract infection and may need some medications to help her feel better. Other causes for this may include an ulcer in her eye or an eye infection. These can be further diagnosed with a physical exam by your primary care veterinarian. And if needed, they will be able to prescribe her the medications to help treat her eye discharge. In the interim, please also monitor for any sneezing, nasal discharge, loss of appetite, lethargy, or even vomiting. If you note any of these then have her seen sooner. Please don't allow her to rub at her eyes. You may clean excessive discharge with a damp cotton ball. Hope this helps and best of luck.
