My dog threw up yellow. Is his buttermilk diet making him sick?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | 4 years and 4 months old | 88.185 lbs

My Dog vomited 2 Times on 26th mid night at 3 am and on 27th at 10 o'clock pm, He throws up Yellow color with rice he ate, I Feed him 2 times a day, That is at morning 7 o'clock and evening 6 o'clock, Rice with butter milk + Chicken and chicken breast, I Feed him when it's in cold, is that a problem? Or what's the problem here? Actually He is quite active and good

The butter milk could be the problem. It's never recommend to give dogs dairy products because it causes GI upset like vomiting. It could also be the diet itself. What you are giving Rambo is not balanced at all, if this is what you are feeding him on a daily basis. As a bland diet to help with vomiting, if you eliminate the butter milk, it's fine for the short term, but should never be given long term. Normally, he should be getting a high quality dog food, which will provide him with all the nutrients he needs. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. For now, have him seen by a vet to be safe since the vomiting has continued. The vet can diagnose the cause of the vomiting and how best to treat it. Good luck, I hope this helps!

If the dog she was around was fully vaccinated and she is fully vaccinated, then it would be very rare for her to get parvo. I will give you a home remedy to try to see if it helps her vomiting, which could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. It could even be related to her normal food Blue Buffalo. Many of my colleagues have seen GI problems in dogs who are fed BB, and it's is not a well regarded food in the veterinary community. It's not a food I would ever recommend for many reasons, include the high incidence of GI issues including hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, as well as zero quality control (they don't own their own factories), and the fact they have openly admitted they have lied about their ingredients. If you can't take him to a vet then withhold food for the day and then try a small amount of a bland diet. You can either get a commercial gastrointestinal diet or try boiled chicken breast and white rice and see how he does with that. You could also add a probiotic to his diet (Fortiflora, Proviable, etc). If he continues to vomit then he really needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet can run blood-work and take x-rays and then prescribe medications to control the vomiting.

Shadow could be vomiting because he has a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, has a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. There are many different reasons why Max could be throwing up. It can range from eating something that is up setting his stomach to an intestinal blockage. You can start feeding him a diet of boiled chicken and white rice for the next 24 hours. If he continues to vomit, take him into the vet. Monitor him for diarrhea, lethargy or weakness. Pay attention to if he is drinking and if he wants to eat. If he gets significantly worse, take him in today. I hope Max starts feeling better quickly!

Throwing up can have many causes such as a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc. Eating too much food too fast is another reason. I would fast Rambo for 24 hours and then put the dog on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the vomiting or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see your veterinarian for a recheck.

My dog has thrown up five times within the last 30-45 minutes. It was all digested food and yellow bile. What should I do?
If your pet has vomited this much in the past 45 minutes I would be very suspicious of a foreign body or a very intense dietary indiscretion (eating something he shouldn't have). I would recommend you start supportive care (like Famotiidne 05-1.0mg/kg every 12 hrs and a bland diet like Purina EN Gastrointestinal canned food OR boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. However there is a big possibility that this could have been a toxicity and if any more symptoms start to arise (such as ataxia (staggering) or shaking, crying out) then I highly recommend you seek a personal veterinarian for a physical examination and further diagnostics. - Dr. H

It could be something he ate, possibly the human food indeed. withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.
