Why is my old dog drinking too much water and always hungry?

My old dog has been drinking water excessively. Started a few months ago. He has fat tumors all along his back but has been healthy most of his life. He has gained a lot of weight in the past 5 years. He recently had surgery for an eye fungus which he recovered from nicely. He is always hungry and gulps food. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 16 lbs

Excessive water intake can be seen with conditions such as urinary tract infections, and metabolic conditions such as Cushing's disease to name a few. Given that Chico is also showing signs of being hungry, it is possible that he has something called Cushing's disease which is a metabolic condition which at times requires treatment. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian who can test for that if it makes sense based on further history and physical examination. Good luck!
