My dog has food allergies. Is her heavy breathing an allergy symptom?

My small dog, a Weimaraner-chihuahua mix, has food allergy and scratches her right ear. We are feeding her special allergy food for 3 weeks now and is improving. But now she has eventual attacks of heavy breathing. Like a difficulty breathing in her upper respiratory system. Is it because of the allergy? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 36 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While this can be due to allergies especially if these are resulting in upper respiratory signs, this seems less likely. I think it is more likely to be due to something else like a concurrent upper respiratory infection. I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!
