Should I worry about a growing black spot on my dog's stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 52 lbs

So I noticed this tiny black dot on my dogs stomach a couple of weeks ago. I thought maybe she had a mole or something natural. Well today I noticed that dot has gotten bigger, but I’m not sure what it is. Does it look like I can remove it myself or should I take her to the vet?

It may be a blood clot or blood blister. If you pop it you will likely get blood out and it will refill. It is best to have your vet remove it to make sure it is not a cancerous growth. This will be able to tell if there is an infection associated with it also
