Is it possible for my puppy to get dog worms from my clothing?

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It sounds like Koga has roundworms. The eggs of intestinal parasites are shed in his poop not from his fur. You need to clean up the stools as soon as he goes to prevent contamination of the environment. Your son should be ok as long as he isn’t eating the poop. Just make sure to wash his hands after he plays with the puppy or before he eats. You will need to treat Koga twice (3 weeks apart) and the you should be all set. Good luck and kisses to Koga!

Round worms are most commonly contracted from walking around barefoot outside and if you step in feces or fecal residue. I would try to pick up his stool outside and I would not walk around barefoot outside. I hope this helps.

I advised washing your hands after playing with your puppy and washing your feet/taking showers regularly if you think your yard is infested with hookworms. Meaning ingesting fecal material. This can happen unintentionally if small particles are on your hands and you put them to your mouth. Theoretically, if Leo has some fecal material on his paw, that got on your eye and you wiped it away and then put your fingers in your mouth or on your lips you could possibly get hookworms. But again pretty unlikely. But it is important to point out that you wash your hands thoroughly after picking up his bowel movements to prevent this. Make sure to follow your vet's recommendation for the deworming protocol for these types of worms as they most often need more than 1 dose. I would recommend deworming him tomorrow and as a precaution, deworming all other pets and humans in the household is rcommended following the introduction of a new pup. Worm eggs need to be ingested in order to be transmitted so hands should be washed after handling the pup (at all times) and especially before eating. I would never recommend allowing a dog to lick people on the face as there is a small risk they may have worm eggs (or bacteria) in and around their mouth which they could transmit to people

Most puppies are born with worms. They can get them from there mother through the placenta. Puppies will have eggs in the poop that are from worms even if you do not see worms in the stool or any scooting. Typically we deworm puppies 2 times due to this. I would recommend a good deworming and picking up feces and throwing it away for a few weeks to prevent infestation of the yard and re infection of ziggy

Hello. Puppies technically are not actually born with worms, but if the mother dog has an undiagnosed case of hook & roundworms, these can pass to the puppies when they nurse. The immune system in a puppy takes time to develop & mature, so worms are always a big problem in them.
