Why does my female cat attack the male trying to mate, and wander?

i have a pair of cat, luna and pino. i was adopting luna from local pet shop, shes about a year now. a week after i adopted her, an unkempt cat came to my house every night. then i decide to tend him too. i gave pino as his name. it seems that pino attracted to luna, and want to mate her. he always follow luna everywhere, but everytime pino try to get closer, she always try to attack him. recently, luna cant stand at home and always going somewhre. what should i do? sorry, for my bad english thx

Your English is fine and I understand what you are asking! I'm not sure if Luna and Pino have been desexed, but if not, I would have Luna spayed and Pino neutered. If Pino is intact, that's why he will always want to mate with her, and Luna won't allow that to happen unless she is in heat. Intact cats will also wander and roam, which could be why Luna is always going somewhere. I would take them both into the vet to get them fixed. I hope this helps!

Your female cat will only mate with your male when she is in heat. I suspect that the reason why she isn't mating with him is because she is not currently in heat. Female cats typically go into heat anywhere from six months of age, but for some cats, it can be closer to a year old. Even if you mate your male cat eventually, it's not going to stop the behavior he's showing for long because he will want to keep mating. If neither cat is fixed, then the female's behavior could be related to mating. When a female cat is in heat, she can be aggressive to males. Queens (unspayed cats) can be very selective about whom they mate with, and your female may not consider your male a suitable mate. She is communicating that to him with her sounds and behavior. To prevent hormone related behaviors, which include your male spraying urine in the house, I would have both the cats fixed.

Hello, and thank you for your question. It is definitely possible that your male is trying to mate with your female. While unlikely, it is possible for your female to get pregnant at an early age (though typically not until 5 months or older), so I would recommend separating them until you can get them both fixed, at least so your female is not being constantly harassed by your male. Hi, yes this would be explained by the fact that Goldu has not been neutered. He probably reached sexual maturity when he was around 5 1/2 - 6 months old and since then he is busy patrolling his territory, hunting and finding female cats. Things should improve by getting him neutered. This will obviously decrease his desire to roam and reduce the chances he gets hurt, involved in cat fights or road traffic accidents. Hope this helps !

Hello I just adopted a female neutered cat but my 10 month old male cat (intact for now but fixing him soon) tries to bite the back of her neck and mount her she doesn’t let herself and manages to push him off her, will he kill her if he can’t mate
I have never heard of one cat killing another over mating issues, so you shouldn't need to worry about this :) However, I'm sure it is annoying for your female cat to have him constantly trying to mount her, and this can certainly lead to developing aggression issues between the cats over time. I would try to get your male kitty neutered as soon as possible, to help prevent this from continuing to happen. In the meantime, if he won't leave her alone, you may need to keep them separated until after he is neutered.

Hi and thanks for your request. Probably she is not accepting the male as she is not in heat or she is already pregnant. As said in a previous question, I would recommend to separate them as you suggested or castrate the males to avoid further unwanted pregnancies.

Cats will tend to have a recurring heat cycle until they are bred, so if she isn't yet pregnant, she is likely to continue to have interest in the male, and the male in her. If you do not wish to have kittens, getting both your female spayed and your male neutered can prevent this, as well as reduce/stop the heat-related behaviors.

Sometimes a cat that is not healthy gets attacked by the other cat in the house. There is a possibility that your male cat is having a health problem, such as a heart problem and she is attacking him because he is "weak". You may want to take your male in for a general exam and tell your vet about the attacks. If your male hides more than usual, and runs away from her hiding, this just may be why. I cannot think of any other reason, especially since they got along in the two weeks after the spay.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tina. Yes, neutering a male cat will decrease his desire to roam. Having a female at home will not necessarily help to keep him home. Neutering will be more effective. I hope this information helps!
