Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 10 years and 10 months old | 20 lbs
My dog got some sort of insect bit on his front left leg right beneath his elbow and now it is swollen and retaining fluid (feels like a full balloon). It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all and he will let me touch it and is not limping but it is very concerning to me because of the fluid retention. What should I do?

You should take him to the vet in order to get it checked, it could be an insect bite but it could also be something more serious such as a trauma to the elbow or even a tumor, this must be checked by your vet ASAP.

If your dog has been missing and came back injured it is best to bring him to your vet or an emergency clinic ASAP. It is possible he has been hit by a car or otherwise injured and may have internal injuries in addition to the wounds and swollen leg that should be ruled out. At the vet they can help you determine if the leg is sprained or broken.
