My dog's ears are thick and scabby after grooming. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Female | spayed | 10 months and 30 days old | 45 lbs

What’s up with my kids ear? Saw it after she got a full shave at the groomer. Has one in the same spot on the other ear. She is in nextgaurd so no mites. Current on all vax too. It’s very thick. I scrubbed it with clorohex scrub. Hair has grown through it. Doesn’t glow so i don’t think it’s ringworm.

It might be a bacterial infection. You can try to get the thick part off if it is a scab to see what the skin looks like beneath. The best thing to do after that is keep neosporin on it to keep the scab from forming. Keeping it clean will help it heal
