My dog has food allergies. What can I use to give him pills safely?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 20 days old | 13 lbs

I need to give some antihistamines to my pup twice a day, but as the vet suspects food allergies I don't know what to put the tablet into that would be safe in terms of eliminating potential triggers. I can't really stick the tablet into his kibble and in the past I would crush tablets and mix them with a tiny bit of almond or peanut butter. How do I make him take the meds without forcing him to swallow?

Even though you are concerned about Barni having a food allergy you can still put the pills in little bit of peanut butter or even try a marshmallow. The most typical type of allergies are to proteins like beef or chicken. You could most likely get Barni to take the pills with these. I hope that helps
