Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Any time there is trauma and the skin is broken, there is a risk for infection. This redness could be due to inflammation, infection or both. If the trauma was within the past day or two, I would monitor for another 24 hours. If the redness continues to spread or does not go away, I would recommend having this looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment can be administered. An antibiotic and anti-inflammatory may be needed for treatment. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
