My dog has stress colitis and hasn't pooped in 2 days. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 10 years and 9 months old

My dog was diagnosed with stress colitis and put on the boiled burger and rice diet. He is eating and drinking but has not had a bowel movement in 2 Days. Should I be concerned? The vet checked him rectally and thru X-ray 4 Days ago and there was no sign of any blockage or obstruction at which time he was prescribed Flagyl. He is also taking Baytril and a 3 day dose of Rimidyl. He is 7 post op following a bladder stone removal and is doing well as far as urinary system goes.

I am so sorry Magnum is going through this. After a dog has diarrhea it is common for them not to defecate for a few days. If Magnum is straining tot defecate I would recommend bringing him to the veterinarian tomorrow. If not I would give him another day and not worry at this point.
