Why is my new parakeet sneezing, clicking, and not moving much?

Hello! I just picked up a parakeet from what I thought was a reputable pet store. The place was rather disgusting, and i managed to save the one budgie that looked the healthiest. It seems he has been sneezing or clicking? I had him perched on my hand and felt him sneeze and felt some type of fluid or liquid on my leg, which I assume is a sneeze. He is also opening and closing his mouth, and not moving much in his new home. I know he is still new, but is this a cause for concern?

Based on the condition of the environment that you are describing and the sneezing and nasal discharge your bird is having, I would be concerned about an upper respiratory tract infection. Your bird will likely need antibiotics and possibly a nebulizer to help open up his airways. I hope this helps. Best of luck with your new bird.
