Why is my French bulldog shaking, itching, or having seizure-like fits?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 21 days old | 30 lbs

Hi I have a 10 month old French bulldog who is vigorously moving his head and body around like he's got an itch or fleas but nothing there.a few times it has looked like he was having a seizure.he was on gastric medication when he was 3 months old and he is eaving as well and bringing up just liquid. I was told it was his earrs but his movements are not really affecting his earrs. Please help as he's really agitated with himself. I do have video evidence as well.

I don't see anything wrong in the pictures, but I would have to examine him in-person to really be able to assess him. Sudden itchiness is usually due to a contact allergy, or possibly due to an environmental allergy. I would check to see if he had contact to any aerosol sprays, disinfectants, perfumes, bathing products, fiberglass, or other new bedding, etc. Without seeing the behavior and knowing the full history, it's difficult to know for sure that this is itching behavior. However, you can give him a bath with just cool water for 15 minutes and see if that helps. If you are not able to determine the cause of this, or the bath is not helping, then I'd recommend a visit to the vet, or possibly an online consult with one of our Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach experts. We can usually narrow down a cause for the behavior and at-least rule-out any serious causes of his condition. I hope that helps and Marley gets back to normal soon.
