Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 3 months and 19 days old | 18.8 lbs

My puppy— wired fox terrier/dachshund mix came to me from a rescue, with IAM’s puppy food. I want feed him good quality food. Seems to be quite dry skin/moderately itchy. Can you suggest a good food. So many to choose from! I usually never feed canned, prefer dry. He is 15.5 weeks old. I got him Oct 19th.

Congratulations on your new puppy! Pepe Le Pew is absolutely adorable!! Iams puppy food is a perfectly fine food to feed him. I would recommend if you wanted to switch foods to wait two weeks before you do that. This was he gets comfortable in his environment before switching anything. You can do Iams, Science Diet, Nutro, Eukanuba and even Royal Canin. These companies do a lot of research on foods and are well balanced. Congratulations again and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
