My dog is on z/d. How do I test for her specific food allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 7 years and 10 months old | 77 lbs

My dog's vet prescribed z/d dog food for my dog's food sensitivities. How do I know what my dog is allergic to? I'm looking to buy her other treats and dog food.

If your dog improves and does well in zd then you have to do a good study to find out exactly what the allergies are. You keep a journal and only give 1 new food a week. If signs return, then that is an allergy. If no signs arise, then there is unlikely an allergy to it. They do make hypoallergenic treats though that are made by science diet to go with that food. You may have to ask your vet for them
