Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 4 months old | 68 lbs
My dog had a mass removed from her face a week ago. She's been on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Incision looks great, but today she started bringing up clear fluid after she drank and has not eaten much at all. She took a treat but that came up as well. She is shivering and squinting her eyes as well. I withheld antibiotics today due to vomiting. Wondering what else is going on with my pup. She is an 11 year old staffy-pit mix. Will call vet in am, but looking for advice to get through the night.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear that Stormy isn't feeling well. It is possible that these symptoms are unrelated to the antibiotics, but you definitely did the right thing by stopping to give them to her. You can monitor her throughout the night, and offer water only. If you are concerned that Stormy is getting worse throughout the night, you can have her evaluated by an emergency vet. I hope she feels better soon!

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say what the issue may be with Stormy without examining her first. Vomiting, loss of appetite, and loose stools can have many medical causes to them: something infectious, caused by organ dysfunction, pancreatitis, or perhaps a neoplastic (cancerous) process. Sometimes certain drugs and medications cause cause lack of appetite and vomiting as well as loose stools or diarrhea. Her eye issue may be a side effect of the antibiotic- some antibiotics can cause dry eye. It may also be an ocular infection. My recommendation would be to take Stormy into see her veterinarian again for a recheck and to rule out the above possibilities. Thanks again for posting and best wishes to you and Stormy!
