Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 5 years and 7 months old | 85 lbs
How long should my dog have swelling after ACL "strap" surgery. He's at 3 weeks today. Knee still looks swollen (on the inside of his leg). Not reddened or warm. Incision looks great. Sutures were removed last week. He's weight-bearing on the leg but stands with that knee outward more so he's not putting full weight on that leg while walking. Not limping or 3 leg walking anymore. He's going for 5 min on leash walks daily. Some muscle atrophy to the leg from inactivity tho

It takes months for the swelling to completely resolve. Up to 6 months before you see the full benefits of surgery. Also, if he has some arthritis present in the knee then the inside will always have some thickening. Best of luck and I hope he heals well! Thank you for using Pet Coach.
