My dog had puppies, then another. Could more still be inside?

Hi I’m srinath we had Great Dane 4years old it has first STUD now it delivered 4 puppies 2 alive 2 dead after 4days it delivered another puppy we are totally confused ,we want to know still puppies in the abdomen, what are gestures to they are puppies

The only way to know for sure if Killer still have puppies in her abdomen is to have her seen by a vet immediately for x-rays. It's very serious that she had a puppy four days after the others, and this is not normal. She could have other puppies still in her uterus, and if left there, it will cause a severe infection that can kill her. Please take her into a vet now.

Poor Abby! Yes, I would definitely be concerned. It is very abnormal for there to still be a puppy left inside her after all this time, so it’s clear that things did not go properly when she was in labor. I would be very concerned that there could be more dead pups inside her, or that she could develop a serious uterine infection from this. I would recommend taking her to an emergency vet today for an exam. The doctor there can take x-rays and ultrasound her uterus to check for additional puppies, and can also start her on antibiotics or other treatment if needed depending on what is found.

Contractions can continue for several hours after delivery, that is for the purpose of getting all the placenta out of the uterus. It's not possible for you to know if there are more puppies in her uterus just by feeling her belly, but if you are unsure and worried, the only thing that can give you a definitive answer would be an xray or an ultrasound.

If you suspect there are more puppies that have not been born yet it is best to seek emergency care ASAP, especially if she has gone several hours without producing another puppy. Your vet may be able to examine or X-ray her to see if any more puppies are in the birth canal. Most small breed dogs typically only have 1-2 puppies in a litter normally, but there can be exceptions and if she seems in distress or you suspect a stuck puppy, seeking care ASAP is needed.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mocha. If she had x-rays while pregnant and she was only expecting one puppy, then she is probably doing fine. However, if she was expecting more puppies or you don't know the number of puppies, she will need to see her veterinarian. The only way to know for sure is to have an x-ray taken by your vet. If she is still panting and having contractions, then this is a sign that she isn't finished delivering pups yet - so if she's doing this and hasn't had any pups in the past hour, I would recommend taking her to an emergency vet for x-rays. Normally, when labor is finished, the mother will settle down and lick her puppies (or puppy, in this case) and allow them to nurse. If she still seems distressed and panting, or is still having visible contractions, then I would be concerned that there may be one or more puppies still inside her.

My dog has delivered 9 puppies, with the 1st being stillborn. It's been 6 hours and I can still feel a puppy inside her.
If it's been six hours since the last puppy was born and you believe Ahavala still has at least one more pup inside her, this is an emergency - she needs to be seen at an emergency clinic tonight for further evaluation (a physical exam, and likely x-rays and/or ultrasound) to determine if there is in fact another pup present. If so, she will almost certainly need an emergency c-section to remove it. here should generally be no more than two hours at most between puppies once a mother dog has started delivering, so a delay of this long is not normal and requires veterinary intervention.

Congrats on Bobbi's new puppies! If you think that there may still be more puppies inside her it's been more than four hours since the last puppy was born, then I would recommend taking her to the vet right away - she will need x-rays to determine if there are still more puppies or not. If so, she may need an emergency c-section to get them out.

If the mother is acting fine and you have not noticed a foul discharge from her vulva I would not be concerned that there are only two puppies. If she seems lethargic, has a foul vulvar discharge or seems to be straining, I would recommend that you have her seen by a veterinarian. They can perform an x-ray to determine if there are any puppies remaining. I would ensure that you are feeding the mother a high quality puppy food to ensure she has adequate nutrition for nursing the puppies. Please also consult with your veterinarian about a proper deworming protocol for the mother and puppies.

It is very likely that she will if you feel like she has more. If nothing happens after 4 hours from the birth of the last one a check up at your local veterinarian is needed as there may be a case of dystocia and medical or surgical intervention may be needed. Poor Butters! From your description, I would be very concerned that she may still have another puppy inside her, or may have a severe uterine infection or some other problem. Having a stillborn puppy is a sign that something went very wrong during the birthing process, and it's not normal for her to seem painful and not want to eat or drink. Unfortunately, I'm afraid there is really nothing at all you can do at home to help her - this may be a life-threatening problem, and she needs immediate veterinary care. I would recommend taking her the nearest emergency clinic tonight to be seen, if possible. The veterinarian there can take x-rays to see if there is another puppy still inside her, and may need to do an emergency c-section if so.
