Cat vomiting, licking bottom: Does she need to see the vet again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | 3 years and 10 months old

Hello, My cat was having issues a few months ago where she was puking and discharging stools with blood. I brought her in and we got her on some antibiotics. since then she has been randomly projectile puking when she has water or food and in the last couple days she has been constantly licking her bottom and I cannot tell if it is the urinary or her bottom. Do I want to take her in again?

If she is continuing to vomit I would recommend rechecking with the veterinarian that originally saw her. Further testing should be performed such as blood work and abdominal x-rays. I would want to rule out a systemic disease or infection and an abdominal foreign body causing the vomiting. This could also be a dietary sensitivity. If the above testing is normal or you do not want to have this additional testing done, I would recommend switching to a different diet that has a different protein that Henry has not had before. If he has never had salmon or tuna before, I would feed this instead of what he is currently being fed. I would also recommend adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
