My dog bit my dad, now weak & won't eat. Is there a rabies cure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I suspect my dog has a rabies after biting my father. My dog became weak and doesn't want to eat or drink. Is still there any cure or treatment for my dog?

Oh dear! I would recommend taking your dog to the vet for an exam and some testing right away, to try and determine what's wrong. Depending on what the problem is, it's possible that he can be treated. If he does have rabies, there is unfortunately no cure for this disease. I would recommend having your father consult his physician immediately to see what he/she recommends doing - he may need to be started on post-exposure treatment right away if his doctor feels that rabies is a realistic possibility. If Choco passes away in the next few days, his body can be tested for rabies to find out for sure if he was infected.
