Why does my dog's eye look like a cataract has fallen to the bottom?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Fox Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 10 months old

Lately I have noticed a weird thing in my dog's eye. It looks like something fell to the bottom of her eye; it doesn't seem to be painful or anything like that. What is it? It looks like cataract or something like that.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Kira! I recommend seeing your Vet to confirm but it appears to be an anterior lens luxation. Meaning Kira’s lens (cataract) fell in to the front chamber of her eye. The lens in the anterior chamber causes inflammation so she is at an increased risk for uveitis and glaucoma. At a minimum she should be put on drops to help prevent those things. I hope this helps and I wish Kira the best!
