Why is my newly adopted rescue dog's urine pale pink after puppies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 25 lbs

We just adopted a rescue, she had puppies maybe 2 months ago, (teets still hanging). She sleeps a lot and drags her belly across the floor. She urinated on the floor, the urine color was pale pink. Thanks

Congrats on adding Bella to your family! First I would recommend to take Bella to the vet to have her urine checked for infection. This is a very common reason for blood in the urine. I would also recommend to have her skin and teats checked for any signs of infection. Lastly, I would recommend to have her spayed in about a month. Female dogs can get an infection in the uterus called a pyometra and it can be fatal. This should get Bella all straightened out. Thank you for using Pet Coach!
