Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Nature allows cats to become pregnant again quite quickly after having kittens. They can go back in to heat, if it’s the right time of year right, around when the kittens are weaned. Rhis is normal biology for cats. They are recovered by then. I don’t advocate breeding on purpose that way. I hope this helps and have a great night

Cats are often going into heat within 2 weeks after weaning the kittens. The discharge is called lochia and can last several weeks after the kittens are born. I recommend spaying these cats right around the time the kittens are weaned, or within that 2 week period after, to insure they do not get bred again. Then you won't have to worry about Shadow having another litter.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It depends on what stage of her heat cycle she is in. She is only going to be receptive to a male for around 4-6 days. If it is early in her cycle or too late she will not allow the male cat to mate. If your cats are both novices they may just need more time to figure things out. If they do not know each other well, the male doesn't normally live with her or if the female is not comfortable with the male she may need time to get to know him. The good thing is that cats come back in to heat quickly so you have time. Good luck!

While some discharge may be normal during pregnancy, bleeding or other discharge from the vaginal region that is discolored may indicate an infection or other complication to pregnancy which should be addressed by your vet.
As cats are induced ovulators, it may also be that she was not bred successfully during her previous heat and come back into heat. Cats will continued to cycle in and out of heat while "in season" and so she may be ready to be bred again. However, it is still a good idea to schedule a veterinary appointment to make sure there are not any problems or health issues that are preventing a successful breeding. My cat is 8 months old and she went into heat for the first time around October now almost every week or less. Is this normal?
Cats are seasonally polyestrus which means that they continually go in and out of heat during breeding season. Normally breeding season starts in January, so Midnight is just a little ahead of the curve. Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. You do not indicate how old the kitten is, but I usually recommend spaying about 2 weeks after the kittens are fully weaned ( usually at 6-8 weeks). If the kitten is on full feed & can be away from his mother for a full 24 hours, then she can be spayed. The 2 weeks just allow the breast tissue to recede a bit & helps with surgery. Thank you.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! While dogs have heat cycles 1-2 times a year, cats typically have heat cycles more frequently, even up to every 3 weeks. It is possible that she isn't showing signs typical of a heat cycle, but cats can develop an infection of the uterus, which can be quite serious. I would recommend she have a check-up with her regular veterinarian to have a physical and go from there. Good luck!

What gorgeous cats! Cats are induced ovulators, meaning that mating will causes them to ovulate. Most females require three to four matings within a 24 hour period for ovulation to occur. After a few matings, their heat cycle will shorten in length. Eggs will be released in response to a hormone surge that is triggered by the breeding. It is not possible for your cat to be in heat this soon. She likely is experiencing some other internal problem and I highly recommend taking her to your vet right away. She needs a proper exam and possible diagnostic tests (bloodwork +/- radiographs) to determine what the internal problem is and hopefully get her treated quickly. I am worried about her behavior and encourage you to take her to your vet quickly. Overfeedng does not cause a cat to go into heat sooner than the body is ready. I hope that your pet Lali gets well soon! I would recommend bottle feeding these kittens until you can figure out what is going on with Lali and get her treated. You can purchase kitty replacement formula from your local feed store, some vet hospitals or your local pet store. Is cat become pregnant ,, when she is mating without heat with a male
Cats are spontaneous ovulators so every time an intact male cat locks with her the spine on his penis stimulates her to ovulate and most time she will become pregnant. This is why cats reproduce often and have a lot of litters. If you do not want a pregnant female I would recommend getting Lovely spayed. Hope that helps
