Why is my dog suddenly more energetic after changing her food?

Is the switch in food giving my dog a bit more energy? I recently changed her food from hill's science diet to blue buffalo...since the switch she is more interested in playing than before...she mostly just slept and did play but very rarely. I can only think the food might be what is helping because i have not done anything different but she went from playing once in a blue moon to playing every day and playing with toys. Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 9 months old | 7 lbs
