My 7-week-old Siamese kitten is hacking and unvaccinated. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed

Siamese kitten hacks sometimes. I just got her last night. She is 7 weeks old. Otherwise seems healthy.. eats, drinks water and plays. Had no shots yet. Has not been to a vet. Was raised by breeders until a few weeks ago. She had been outside some, but they said she prefers inside. Her poop is a little loose, not formed. Could it be the cheap cat litter I just happened to have?

Destiny is very cute! The hacking could be related to a respiratory infection, which can be common in kittens. Only a vet would be able to diagnose that for sure, and she does need a vet visit. I strongly recommend not letting her outside at all until she is fully vaccinated. There are a number of deadly diseases she could get from contact with other animals outside if she isn't fully vaccinated, and you definitely want to avoid that. Make an appointment for the vet to get this hacking examined and to talk about her vaccine schedule. Good luck, I hope this helps!
