Why is my cat's bald patch red and irritated? Is it infected?

Attached pictures- my cat has a patch of fur missing and her exposed skin is very red, is it an infection? She’s not on any medication currently. It’s been her bald patch has been like this for a week and only recently did her skin become red

It looks like Roxy has a small area of a skin infection. I recommend bringing her to a veterinarian. Here they can dispense antibiotics and potentially medication to help her stop licking or scratching (if she is).     This could be a spot of wear (from walking, etc.), from scuffing the foot on something (injury), from her licking the site, or an issue with the skin. If you dont see any redness or irritation and she is not bothered by it those are good signs. If the lesion gets bigger, is red or ulcerated, you see other skin lesions, or she is bothered by it i would recommend she see your family vet for evaluation. It is a bit difficult to tell in these pictures, but these might be rodent ulcers (otherwise known as eosinophilic plaques or granulomas). If this is the case, they are usually somewhat difficult to treat and can take a while to resolve. Usually they require steroids to control the inflammation and a systemic antibiotic at the beginning of the course of therapy. You will need to visit with your veterinarian in order to obtain the necessary therapeutics for Roxy. Repeat treatments can sometimes be required, so do not be discouraged if the first go-round does not completely get rid of everything. Hope this makes sense.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Based on the picture you provided, I suspect this could be a skin infection. I would recommend using the following products or something comparable, which you can find easily online. If there is no improvement I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendation can be made. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely an infection possibly due to allergies. If you are able to it would be best to have him evaluated before that time as this is likely causing her to be in discomfort. Otherwise, this is not an emergency and can likely wait until Saturday. In the meantime, before seeing your veterinarian try to get an e-collar to prevent her from licking at it and causing more trauma. You can find an e-collar at your local pet store. Best of luck!

What is this on my baby girl it just came up yesterday
It looks as if Roxie has a pretty significant skin infection on her belly. This can be pretty common in young puppies. She will most likely need antibiotics to help clear up the infection. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Best of luck.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching (if any). My cat has a patch of fur missing from the back of her neck, there is now a red patch and she cant get comfortable
That looks like an area of a moist bacterial infection. It may have initially been caused by fleas, allergies, an allergic reaction to something she came in contact with at that spot on her skin, a small superficial wound, etc. It is probably uncomfortable and very itchy. It would be best to have your veterinarian examine her to see if any underlying cause can be identified and to also prescribe a treatment regiment of antibiotics and possible an anti-itch medication.

Hello, in the last two weeks my cat starts to lick his coat and itching continously.. In the past two days i checked his neck and i found this huge spot i want to know if this is a fungus or something not too bad because i start worrying about him..
Hello. That looks like a moist and sticky bacterial infection, but a proper diagnosis would come from a hands on examination with your veterinarian. It would be best to have him looked at ASAP, but in the meantime....the main goal is to clean the area and try to keep it dry. You can use some dish soap and water to gently clean the area, then wipe excess soap away and dry it . Do not rub or scrub the tissue very hard as it is probably uncomfortable. Your veterinarian will need to prescribe the appropriate antibiotic to eliminate the infection. Thank you for using Boop by Petco

my cat has a bald spot on her back and there are tiny red dots on her skin. Can you tell me what it might be?
I am sorry to hear about Luna. A photo of the area may be helpful to give us a better idea. We would worry about things like bacterial infection secondary to allergy, irritation due to topical flea medication if you use a spot-on product, or potentially a fungal infection called ringworm. I would recommend an examination by her vet to check the area. They may recommend testing such as cytology to look for bacteria or yeast, or a fungal culture to check for ringworm. Treatment may vary based on cause and could include topical medications, oral medications or injections.

My cat has a red, bald spot that has gotten much larger and more red within the last couple days, it's on her inner upper, left leg..What could this be? I don't know her for sure age as I rescued her about 8 years ago and she was already full grown.
This looks like an infected hot spot. First you have to get her to stop licking it or it will never heal. I would put a cone collar on her to prevent this. Since it is so large and looks infect d I would have your vet look at it. Your vet will be able to give her some antibiotics and possibly an anti-inflammatory like a steroid to help prevent the itching as it heals. Also your vet will be able to provide you with a topical medicine to help speed healing. I hope this helps!
