My cat threw up. How long to wait to feed her if she seems normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My cat seems to have thrown up sometime today. I was out running errands all day and found it this evening when I got home. I was just wondering how long I need to wait to feed her? She otherwise seems normal. Nothing weird in litter box and only one pile of throw up.

Hello, sorry to hear about Maggie. Cats will occasionally vomit for unknown reasons, however, it is most often not associate with a severe illness. If she seems to be otherwise fine and no longer having vomiting, and if she is interested in eating, then you can feed her a smaller portion than what she normally eats. You can start off with a 1/4 of what she normally eats, if she tolerated it well, then you can feed her more 30-60 minutes later. Hope this helps and best of luck,
