Why is my 5-month puppy vomiting brown, pooping liquid, not eating?

Baily is so cute! I am concerned though that he is not eating and having such intestinal upset. I would recommend you take Baily in for an exam with your vet as soon as possible. Puppies this young can get dehydrated very quickly and become quite ill. I am worried about the possibility of intestinal parasites, eating something he shouldn't have (dietary indiscretion), or even a bacterial or viral infection (like parvovirus). Baily may need some tests to see what the underlying cause is, such as a parvo test and fecal test. He also may need some anti-nausea medication, antibiotics, or even fluid therapy if he is dehydrated. I hope he gets back on track quickly!

Oh my. I am so sorry your puppy is so ill. IF Brownie has not been fully vaccinated, I would first be suspicious of a viral infection (i.e. parvovirus) as the cause for her illness. Have her tested through your vet right away, because she will need extensive treatment if that is the case. If she is fully vaccinated, then my next suspicion would be a foreign body obstruction. She will need to visit your vet and have abdominal radiographs taken to look for signs of an obstruction and then treated accordingly, which typically involves surgical removal of the foreign body. Best case scenario is that she has a really bad case of gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) caused by something she ate. If that is the case, you will still need to see your vet b/c she need anti-nausea medication, fluid therapy if she is dehydrated, and antibiotics to clear things up, as well as the dewormer. You can absolutely give a pet dewormer if they are not eating; however, you want to make sure the pet

If a young puppy is vomiting and having diarrhea my biggest concern is parvovirus. This virus can be treated but takes fluids, antibiotics, nausea medication and sometimes pain medication to get them healthy again. It may be something less serious like intestinal parasites but since he's not eating it still needs to be treated. I would recommend taking him to your vet as soon as possible so they can do a fecal test to rule out intestinal parasites and a Parvo test to rule that out as well.

It Seems as Cu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. the vaccination might need to be reschedule to a later date if he is still not well by then.

If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. If he has not eaten well for the past 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Puppies generally have a big appetite so when they aren't eating well, it's concerning for a more serious cause of illness. Some times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. I’m sorry Reus isn’t feeling himself. If it was an isolated episode of vomiting, that could definitely be from eating and then playing hard right after. However, given that he vomited a lot last night and then couldn’t hold his breakfast down I worry more could be going on. Considerations include stomach upset from eating something he shouldn’t, ingesting a toy or other object that is stuck in the stomach or intestine, or even some viruses such as parvo (if he isn’t vaccinated). If he continues to vomit, isn’t able to keep water down, or refuses to eat I would have him evaluated by a veterinarian. If he has good energy and does not have further vomiting episodes today, then I would offer him a small meal of very bland white chicken meat and white rice this evening (rather than his regular food) to see if he is able to keep that down. Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked.
