My dog has a rash and swollen eyes, vet closed. What should I do?

My dog is breaking out and her eyes are closing....i dont know what it could be could you please help me...the vet is closed for the weekend

Poor Keisha! Please keep in mind that without seeing her in person, I can't say what is causing her symptoms and legally cannot say what treatments to use. My best guess from your description is that she could be suffering from an allergic reaction. The problem with allergic reactions is that they could cause her face and muzzle to swell, leading to breathing difficulties and respiratory distress. This can be fatal, and so she does need treatment from a vet now. I would check to see if there is an ER vet clinic in your area to bring her into now. If not, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Oh no, that's not good at all! Her eyes are extremely swollen and unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say what is causing it. Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Based on your description and the pictures you provided, it appears as though Brody is having an allergic reaction. I would recommend using Benadryl, which you can read about at this link ( https://www.petcoach.co/pet-medication/benadryl/ ). If there is no improvement, then I would seek an emergency veterinary hospital that is open 24 hours so you can get him seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps! I would take her into the ER vet today, any eye problem should be considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would not give her any drops. It may be the wrong treatment for her eye problem, and you are correct that you don't want to complicate treatment or accidentally harm her. Having her seen by an ER vet is best, and they can prescribe the correct treatment. Best of luck with her, she is simply lovely! I had a female Golden Retriever that I lost to cancer two years ago, and she was seriously the best dog I ever owned. I hope this helps!

The itchy rash starts on the feet then goes to the mouth causing severe swelling then goes to the eyes causing crusty itchy eyes.
This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas, infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollins, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). A picture would really help. With a puppy and rashes starting along the face, mange would a be top differential that she should be checked for. Ringworm, an allergic reaction or an infection are also possibilities. You can give an over the counter antihistamine such as Benadryl to help then take her to a vet in the morning to a skin sample to determine the cause

Dogs eyes are randomly swollen hes acting completely normal
Oh my, poor Lamar! I can certainly see the prominent swellings of both of his eyelids. One of the most common causes of eyelid swelling is from an allergic reaction. The tricky part with allergic reactions is that we often aren't able to figure out the trigger - whether he may be reacting to an insect or spider bite, pollens outside, or countless other things. However, since it looks as though Lamar is missing a good bit of hair around his eyelids (although this could also be pigment change and some glare in the picture), other possible causes could be infectious issues, like mange. Certainly other skin lesions or itching would make this scenario more likely. Since it's most concerning that he's possibly experiencing an allergic reaction with swelling on his face, you really should take him to an emergency vet right away for evaluation and treatment. Some allergic reactions can progress to anaphylaxis, which can cause severe breathing difficulties. I hope that he's feeling better soon!

My French bulldog Dolly's face has started swelling up all of a sudden, my vets aren't open now either. Do u think it's serious
It's probably an allergic reaction, as long as she doesn't seem lethargic and doesn't have any problem breathing, it's probably not going to be too serious. Most allergic reation of this sort resolve without treatment within 48 hours, but if the swelling is too bad I would recommend taking her to the emergencies to get an injection for the allergy.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Judging from the pictures and your description, I suspect that what you are seeing is due to an eye infection, irritation or dry eye. If you are unable to get to your veterinarian right away, there are over the counter drops that you can use. I've recommended Systane eye drops in the past to clients and that helps lubricate the eyes quite well. If this is infections, however, antibiotic eye medication will be needed so you will need to have Leah seen by a veterinarian to have antibiotic eye medication prescribed. I hope this helps! It could be an infection, allergic reaction, or secondary to trauma. Since it is so swollen, it would be best to have him examined and treated by a vet as soon as possible. You could take him to an emergency clinic in your area for treatment. Otherwise, if he is acting normal and doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort then call your vet first thing in the morning to schedule an appointment.
