What food should I be buying for my budgie, so that I do not need to buy a separate vitamin liquid or powder?

A good quality commercial pelleted diet such as Harrison's, Lafeber, KayTee Exact or Pretty Bird can provide complete nutrition. You can supplement with small amounts of a fortified seed mix as well as a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

You can supplement with a small amount of a fortified seed mix. Round out her diet with fresh greens, vegetables and a small amount of fruit. She can also eat foods such as cooked grains and beans and plain pasta. Scrambled egg is also a healthy treat. Introduce new foods gradually and one at a time. Monitor for loose droppings afterwards.

Since she is young, consider transitioning her to a commercial pelleted diet such as Harrison's, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or KayTee Exact. You can still supplement with a bit of a fortified seed mix and fresh vegetables and fruits. Moisten pellets with warm water to make a mash and offer to Luna daily. Mix the pellets into her food and gradually increase the amount over a week or two until she is eating mainly pellets.

Pellets are the best to feed birds. I don't know what website your sister was reading. An all seed diet is considered bad.
As a guideline, most budgies can be maintained on 1.5 - 2 level measure teaspoons of seeds per bird, per day in a shallow dish, depending on the size of the bird. If there are any seeds left over in the dish at the end of the day, it suggests that too many seeds were offered originally. Seeds are more like a "treat" than anything compromising maybe 5% of the diet. They should not be the main staple.
Pellets have been developed to meet all the bird's nutritional needs. Pellets are the ideal diet. Pellets should ideally represent approximately 75-80% of the bird's diet.
Fruits, vegetables and greens should account for approximately 20 - 25% of the daily diet. They must be washed thoroughly to remove chemicals. Cut them into manageable pieces depending on the size of the bird. Offer fruits and vegetables in a separate dish. If your bird appears to develop a pa

I have a Quaker parrot who is at least 24 years old. I have had him that long but was a rescue so not sure of exact age. I am looking for suggestions on a better senior food for him.

Thanks for reaching out. There are several brands with good quality nutrients and research. Roudybush or Harrison's are brands that most avian veterinarians approve. Look at the ingredients listed to make sure it isn't heavy in fillers such as corn or wheat. Transitioning to pellets is sometimes difficult but highly recommended. Pellets should not be the sole diet, but should be used to supplement fresh vegetables, a vegetarian protein source and other vitamin sources. Good luck

My budgie has been very thin and lean.i can feel his breastbone as well as his back bone and his wing bones. He eats only green leaves and herbs with his usual seed millets.
Hello. Pedro should be eating 70% compete pelleted food like ZuPreem or Roudybush. A high quality seed mix or nitro berries worth fresh vegetables can make up the remainder of the diet. A diet of only millet with some greens and herbs is deficient in many important nutrients (protein, vitamin A, etc). I’d strongly recommend an exam by a veterinarian soon to assess overall heath and work diligently to transition him to a pelleted diet.
